What's a KVM extender?

A KVM extender is transmitters and receivers that work together to transmit keyboard, monitor and mouse signals to operate a computer from a great distance.

The transmitter is connected to the computer's keyboard, video, and mouse interfaces, and the transmitter is connected at the remote console. Both devices are connected with one or more cables.

What's a KVM extender

The applications for a KVM extender are limitless, It can be used in offices, public kiosks, hospitals, schools, and 911 call centers. Use it for instance in process control to isolate servers from an industrial environment while still giving users full server access with a keyboard, monitor and mouse. It is also great for putting all your employees’ CPUs in a single centralized location to free up more desk space at their workstation.

One big advantage over ordinary extension cable is that there is virtually no video distortion when sending monitor signals over long distances. How far you can go depends on the cabling the extender supports.

We offer KVM extenders for HDMI, DVI and VGA, which use cat cables or fiber optics for transmitting signals. Signals such as audio, RS232, USB 1.1 or 2.0 can be transmitted as well.
